“Pavo Real Albino (Lost and Fake History)" in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca, Mexico at Cordoba Lab features altered images of albino peacocks printed to 35mm slides. The slide projector is automated with a soundscape via a raspberry pi and arduino. The projector advances to slide 23 at which point the machine erratically returns to zero in constant loop. The albino peacock is a prized bird, an aberration, its value determined by its scarcity. Yet in the wild it is invisible to the female and its chances of reproducing are low. For it to retain its purity and beauty it needs human intervention to reproduce. “Pavo Real Albino”, is a slow ghostly documentary where an accident of nature is elevated to artificial superiority.
